       Dr. Wiley's Story Told

              Through Photographs

Inspired by the joy of life and its mysteries, Dr. Wiley deeply appreciates the beauty of nature and enjoys capturing the smallest yet meaningful details with his camera lens. Much like looking through his microscope, he discovers infinite textures, patterns, colors and reflections of light – the “skin” of nature – in everything from clusters of flower buds and shells washed up on shore to birds in flight and butterflies dancing in the garden.

As a dermatopathologist, Dr. Wiley is drawn to complex challenges – looking at the whole, while focusing in on the details… searching for clues that will lead to the answer: a correct diagnosis. In nature, what he seeks more than images of beauty, but the deeper, meaningful insights and inspiration that nature subtly, yet generously, reveals to him about life.

This small collection of Dr. Wiley’s photographs reveals his perspective – providing insights about him as a human being and demonstrating the keen power of observation that uncovers truth for him in both life and medicine.

"There's no one focal point in this picture, but many layers...the sky, the seeds, the earth. And the roots, which make all of this life possible. This one image contains the full circle of life. In practicing medicine, it is always important never to forget that all is connected – that we do not ultimately deal with diseases, but rather with human beings who may have diseases."

– Henry E. Wiley, III, M.D.
